マーティン・デニーやレス・バクスターなど、エキゾチカ・ミュージックに傾倒していたというプロデューサーDorianの音楽的嗜好が、よりポップな装いをまとって、ハイの音域でキラキラ輝いている。カラフルでヌーディーな開放感に溢れた、サマー・チューンズ。
ポップソングから遠く離れ、ミニマルな音響に拘泥していった彼の新作が、まさかこんなに歌モノに回帰するとは思わなかった。“点”から、“波”へ、“抽象性”から、“具象性”へ。音の隙間に不思議な波がたゆたう、底知れない中毒性。
パッと見マイルス・デイヴィスみたいな御面相が、『地獄の黙示録』のごとく水面に顔半分を浮かべているかのようなジャケットが強烈。ジャズ・シーンの中心に鎮座していたマイルスが、よりエレクトクロニックなフュージョンに傾倒していったのと同じ道を歩むかのように、サンダーキャットもまたファンク、ヒップホップ、あらゆるジャンルを横断して、真にクロスオーバーなシーンを我々に見せつける。
蓮沼執太とU-zhaanの演奏に乗せて、アート・リンゼイがゲスト・ヴォーカルで参加する日が来ようとは。これを僥倖と呼ばずして何と言おう。
耳をはわすと聴こえてくる、美しくも恐ろしいお伽話。OOIOO元ドラマーOLAibiが5年という時間をかけ、鳥取の森のスタジオでコツコツと作った奇跡的なアルバム。
chelmicoよりもソロの鈴木真海子の方がメロウなヒップホップで、音楽的には好みだったりする。M-1「Blue」とかM-3「Contact」は、夜の首都高で聴きたいグッド・チューン。
Ahwlee、Pink Siifuの2人のビートメイカーによるデュオ、B.Cool-Aid。彼らの手にかかれば、ディアンジェロの『Black Messiah』にも通じる、ブラックな桃源郷が浮かび上がる。メロウでジャジー、それでいてパンチのある音像に、完全にトリコ。
弱冠18才でデビューを果たした、UKトラディショナル・フォークの歌姫ローラ・マーリング。本作は自身が立ち上げたレーベル「More Alarming Records」からのリリースで、よりパーソナルな光を放つフレッシュな音像に。いよいよポスト・ジョニ・ミッチェルの風格を帯びてきた。
美しいピアノやハープの音色、柔らかなエレクトロニック・ノイズ、しとしとと降りしきる雨を精妙にコラージュして、眩しいくらいにキラキラと光溢れる音像を創り上げた、サンファのデビュー・アルバム。母親を癌で失った哀しみがありありと刻まれた、極めてパーソナルな作品。
韻シストのフロントマンBASIは、個人的に追いかけているジャパニーズ・ラッパー。M-3「たゆたう」に代表されるように、全体が穏やかでチルなサウンドで構築されているのが大好きなんであります。
近代的な音楽システムから遠く離れた、アブストラクトで非同期なサウンド。一切の感傷性を配したような、澄み切った音の一粒一粒。それが孤高の空間のなかで交錯し、結合している。教授、「あまりに好きすぎて、誰にも聴かせたくない」とおっしゃった気持ち、僕にも分かるような気がします。
ジュリエットとジョキムの男女インディーポップ・デュオ、パール＆オイスターズ。フランス出身のポップカルチャー大好きコンビが、ユルーくデビュー・アルバムをドロップ。ナードでチープで80’sでサイケでノスタルジックでドリーミー。インドアな今日もエンジョイ・ザ・ワールド！
